SS Kantara

The Kantara was owned by the Moss and Hutchinson Line. She was a Passenger/cargo ship of about 3200 tons. She was built by Barcley, Curle and Co. Ltd. and commissioned in 1925. She had a top speed of 10 knots, nowhere near enought to outrun a warship.

The following were sent to me by Roger Griffiths of Birmingham U.K. They are documents listing the crew of the Kantara..

• Telegram to the Registrar of Shipping and Seamen Cardiff
• List of the crew
• Kantara crew list -Tommy is number 8
• Some of the crew were repatriated
• More Repatiations -Bernard Bona died shortly after repatriation, his name is listed in Canada's Book of Rememberance
• Crew list -Harry Wildgoose died shortly after he was released.

If anyone knows the fate of any of the other crew members, I would be happy to include the details on this site.
